Traffic impacts and information to consider for option 1

  • Eliminates two-way passing conflicts
  • Better for cyclists in the eastbound direction
  • Loss of right turn entry from Punt Road
  • Risk of increased traffic and higher speeds in the westbound direction if traffic calming is not effective
Concept option 1: one-way, westbound
Traffic reduction on Rowena Parade
  • Moderate reduction (up to 90 vehicles per peak hour)
Impact on local access
  • Some local trips become less direct, with an overall moderate impact on local access
Impact to Lennox Street
  • Minor reduction in non-local traffic (up to 30 vehicles per peak hour)
  • Low traffic increases due to local traffic redistribution (10 to 20 vehicles per peak hour)
Impacts on wider area
  • Low to moderate traffic increases on surrounding streets, mainly Richmond Terrace, Tanner Street and Sherwood Street (up to 40 vehicles per peak hour spread across all streets)
