We are committed to creating meaningful content and products that are accessible to all users, regardless of their ability or circumstance.

WCAG Guidelines

This website follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Using these guidelines makes content more accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities, including:

blindness, photosensitivity and low vision
deafness and hearing loss
limited movement
speech disabilities
learning disabilities and cognitive limitations.

However, it is important to note that following these guidelines will not address every user need for people with these disabilities.

These guidelines address accessibility of web content on any kind of device (including desktops, laptops, kiosks, and mobile devices). Following these guidelines will also often make web content more usable to users in general.

The successful application of WCAG is guided by 4 principles:

Perceivable - information can't be invisible to all of a user's senses
Operable - the interface cannot require interaction that a user cannot perform
Understandable - the content or operation cannot be beyond a user's understanding
Robust - as technologies and user agents evolve, the content should remain accessible.

Our current target is Level AA compliance.

The National Relay Service (NRS) can help you if you’re d/Deaf or find it hard to hear or speak to hearing people on the phone.

convert sign language to English.

In person events
If you need an interpreter or have any accessibility requirements in order to participate in an in-person event, you can phone us on 03 9205 5555.
All of our in-person community engagement events are wheelchair accessible.
outdoor events are located near a road or footpath.
Indoor events are located on the ground floor or in a building with a lift.
Universal Design and Disability Inclusion Policy

This new policy establishes Council’s priorities in creating a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming community for people of all abilities.
