This project was designed to explore options to make Rose Street more pedestrian friendly and improve access to the businesses and markets on the street.

A concept design for a shared zone along Rose Street was prepared following community consultation in 2017.

Instead of costly engineering treatments, the concept included innovative ways to improve pedestrian and cyclist access to Rose Street. The design aimed to support the change of Rose Street to a shared zone and the priority of pedestrians over vehicle movement.

A previously identified proposal to incorporate a one-way traffic (westbound) change was abandoned following the recommendations of an independent traffic assessment and community feedback.
