Open for feedback

This consultation is open until 11:59pm on Sunday 29 November 2026.

What we're doing

Council is committed to improving road safety for all road users in Yarra.

We are investigating Brunswick Street North and Holden Street for opportunities to improve road safety. The study area is bounded by Holden Street, Brunswick Street North, Park Street and Rae Street, and includes the Capital City Trail crossings at Rae Street and Brunswick Street North.

The area was reviewed as part of the Scotchmer, Fitzroy North Local Area Place Making Study in 2018. We are taking a fresh look at the area and exploring what else might improve road safety outcomes.

We want to better understand safety issues, including crashes or near misses involving cyclists and reports of unsafe driver behaviour, particularly around the Capital City Trail crossings.

If you walk, ride, drive or travel through the study area, we want to hear about your experiences, and any safety concerns you have. We also want to hear your ideas to make the area safer.

We’ll use community feedback, crash data and site observations to identify ways to improve accessibility and safety for everyone using Brunswick Street North and Holden Street.

Community feedback will help inform the final design. This may be the only opportunity to have your say on this project, unless Council decides to seek further feedback on the final proposed traffic treatments.
