This strategic directive aims to sustain and improve the resources and reach of Yarra's neighbourhood houses by supporting partnerships and collaborations and exploring opportunities for shared staffing and resources for shared programs.

2. Add value through partnerships and collaboration

2.1

Encourage partnerships to further resources and reach for programs, services and events, and to access specific expertise where needed.

Enhance linkage between the neighbourhood houses and Yarra’s existing volunteers’ program where appropriate.

Identify opportunities for new partnerships where appropriate, including but not limited to, local businesses, educational institutions, and local organisations.

With Neighbourhood Houses Victoria and North East Neighbourhood House Network, leverage, generate and promote training and development opportunities for neighbourhood house staff, volunteers and board/committee members.

Enhance collaboration and accountability through review and update of funding agreements, network terms of reference and the Memorandum of Understanding.

Develop clear, consistent program-specific partnership agreements that articulate roles and responsibilities of particular areas of the Council and of the neighbourhood houses, and hold partnership meetings where appropriate.

Where appropriate, build upon and help identify opportunities to utilise economies of scale for neighbourhood houses, by collectively accessing and sharing resources.
