Update on Cambridge Street play equipment

7 February 2025

In 2024, Yarra City Council resolved to install some additional play items at Cambridge Street Reserve in Collingwood in response to community feedback.

Works will include the installation of new, colourful play equipment for young kids and other improvements to play area.

This means that during the works, parts of the reserve won’t be accessible to visitors.

When:

On Monday, 10 February, we’ll commence construction on the upgrades to the reserve. The works will take four weeks to complete and will take place during permitted work hours (7am-6pm weekdays, 9am-3pm Saturday).

What:

The upgrades will include the installation of colourful new equipment including a:

  • slide suitable for young children
  • four-way rocker
  • mini trampoline
  • new accessible and colourful rubber surface under the existing swing
  • asphalting of some of the pathways
  • new playful line marking
  • new nature play elements close to the play area

To make room for the new equipment, we will need to remove the chin-up bar and relocate the balance beam and two trees.

While Cambridge Reserve gets a makeover, there are other playgrounds nearby you can visit. We’ve pulled together a list of them below:
