We are reviewing our Arts and Heritage Collection Management Policy.

Yarra has an extensive arts and heritage collection, reflecting the people, places and history that make our community unique.
The collection is an important community asset that helps tell the story of our city.
We are currently reviewing how we manage the collection.
Our vision is to make arts and culture an everyday experience in the City of Yarra.
About the collection
The collection was first gathered together when the cities of Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond were amalgamated in 1994.
The indoor collection includes contemporary art, heritage art and heritage decorative arts which can be found throughout council buildings
The outdoor collection includes memorials, monuments and public art which can be found in streetscapes, on buildings and in parks across Yarra.
In 2009 the collection was formally recognised with an Asset Management Plan to protect and grow the collection through a combination of council budget and generous donations. In 2010 Council was recognised as a Cultural Gifts Organisation, and this has been the most effective means of growing the collection.
Read more about the collection in the FAQs, see the current management plan in the document library and check out the heritage collection on our website.
