Open for feedback

This consultation is open until 11:59pm on Sunday 1 November 2026.

Yarra City Council is running a community safety project in the part of Collingwood within Perry, Gipps, Wellington and Hoddle Streets. We're seeking your feedback to understand what you like about the area as well as any safety concerns you might have.

The project uses a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach. This approach aims to improve how public spaces are designed, managed and used. It looks into factors like lighting and visibility, as well as community connection and public activity.

Your feedback will help us understand what is working well and identify potential solutions to make people feel safer and more connected. We'll use community feedback alongside local knowledge, site visits and data to shape an action plan. The action plan will support community safety, access, connection and positive activity in this area.

We want to hear from locals and visitors. Tell us about what works well, places you like to visit and/or places where you don’t feel safe in streets and public spaces in this part of Collingwood.

Join the safety walk

As part of this project, we are inviting residents and local business operators to participate in a Community Safety Walk in October.

The walk will provide another opportunity to share local knowledge, identify what is working well, and discuss opportunities to improve the area. Feedback from the walk will be used along with feedback from the map to help inform recommendations to support safer, more inclusive and more vibrant public spaces.

As places are limited, we are seeking expressions of interest to participate in the walk. Register your interest below and we will contact you to confirm your attendance. Please note, participants under aged under 18 will need a parent or guardian to come with them.

About this safety approach
