All of Yarra City Council's current proposed road discontinuances are listed below.
You can provide a submission by filling in the online form for each road discontinuance or by post or by dropping off your submission to one of our town halls.
Budd Street Collingwood, Lot 1 - open until 11:59pm on Monday 16 February
Yarra City Council (Council), acting under clause 3 of schedule 10 to the Local Government Act 1989 (Act), proposes to discontinue part of the road known as Budd Street, Collingwood, shown as Lot 1 on the plan below (Road), being part of the land contained in Part Crown Portion 81, Parish of Jika Jika and part of the land remaining in Conveyance Book K No. 890.
The proposal is that Council discontinue the Road and retain the land comprising the Road for public open space purposes. The rights of any public authorities will be saved pursuant to section 207C of the Act.
Any person may make a submission on the proposal.
Any person wishing to make a submission under section 223 of the Act must do so in writing by Monday, 16 February 2026.
All submissions will be considered in accordance with section 223 of the Act. Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, and may be submitted as follows:
- online at a dedicated Yarra City Council ‘Your Say’ webpage by scanning the below QR code; or
- hand delivered to Council's Municipal Office at 333 Bridge Road, Richmond; or
- posted to the following address:

An Extraordinary Council Meeting to hear submissions will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at Richmond Town Hall.
Any person requesting to be heard in support of their submission is entitled to be heard before Council (or its committee established by Council for this purpose) or be represented by a person acting on their behalf. Anyone wishing to speak must clearly state this request in their written submission.
Following the hearing of submissions at the Extraordinary Council Meeting, the matter will be considered by Council at a subsequent Ordinary Council Meeting. As the opportunity to address Council will have been provided at the Extraordinary Meeting, there will be no further opportunity to speak at the Ordinary Meeting.
After considering all submissions, Council may resolve not to discontinue the Road, or to discontinue the Road and then transfer the Road to itself.

The proposal is that Council discontinue the Road and retain the land comprising the Road for public open space purposes. The rights of any public authorities will be saved pursuant to section 207C of the Act.
Any person may make a submission on the proposal.
Any person wishing to make a submission under section 223 of the Act must do so in writing by Monday, 16 February 2026.

243-245 Gertrude Street Fitzroy - open until 11:59pm on Tuesday 17 February
Yarra City Council (Council), acting under clause 3 of schedule 10 to the Local Government Act 1989 (Act), proposes to discontinue the roads abutting 243-245 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, as shown cross-hatched on the plan below, being the whole of the land contained in certificates of title volume 10192 folio 183 and volume 9702 folio 575 (Roads).
The proposal is that Council discontinue the Roads and sell the Roads to the owner of 243-245 Gertude Street, Fitzroy (Adjoining Owner) on terms acceptable to Council, or retain the Roads.
Any person may make a submission on the proposal.
Any person wishing to make a submission under section 223 of the Act must do so in writing by 17 February 2026.
All submissions will be considered in accordance with section 223 of the Act. Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, and may be submitted as follows:
