Precinct summary

Merri Creek defines the eastern extent of the Clifton Hill precinct, with Queens Parade to the north west and Alexandra Parade to the south.

Where is open space currently located?

Clifton Hill is rich in quality open space, with Darling Gardens, Mayor's Park, Ramsden Street Reserve, Hall Reserve, Quarries Park, George Knott Reserve and Yarra Bend Park located in the precinct.

There is only one small gap in Clifton Hill's open space network between Hoddle Street and the Mernda / Hurstbridge rail line. An additional open space would only be required in the long-term if projected growth occurs.

Recommendations
  • Provide an additional small local open space if the employment population in the gap area substantially increases.
  • Diversify the recreational facilities available in the precinct so they cater to a range of age groups, particularly older people.
  • Open space designs should encourage social activity, considering a forecast increase in lone person households.
