What we're doing

Collingwood has low levels of open space (only 0.3% of the total precinct area is open space).

This project aims to increase green open space for the Collingwood community on the corner of Mater and Wellington Streets (near the Salvation Army building).

We recently acquired a vacant land parcel on the corner of Wellington Street and Mater Street and last year we conducted further sentiment testing to understand community needs. There was strong support for a new open space at this location. Council has since approved a road discontinuance and we've now created a draft Concept Design for a new open space at Mater Street.

Tell us what you think about the draft Concept Design, which proposed park features you think are the most important to include and share any other comments and suggestions you have about this project. Have your say before the consultation closes at 9am on Monday 13 April 2026.
