Thanks for having your say on the draft Concept Design for a new green open space on Budd Street in Collingwood.
Project Updates
Further to the concept design being finalised, Council has developed a detailed design package for Budd Street which includes more details of the site and what would be involved in the construction. The image below illustrates part of this design package and shows the specific location of trees, paved areas, timber decking, the skate rail and paths.
Council is preparing the tender for construction of this project. As part of this process, two options will be included for pricing to address community feedback of more ‘green’ areas. The first option will be the final concept design as presented. The second will replace approximately 50-100 square metres of timber decking or hard stand paving with turf (to be confirmed through further investigation). The two options will be presented at the Council Meeting in December for Council to award a contract for the Budd Street project.

Community consultation
This consultation closed at 9am on Monday 13 April 2026.
By 2031, it's predicted that there will be a 62% increase in resident population in the Collingwood area. That's why we're increasing the green space available to the community on the corner of Budd and Easey Streets (near the substation on Easey Street).
Last year, following sentiment testing with the local community, there was strong support for a new open space at this location. Council has since approved a road discontinuance and we've now created a draft Concept Design for the new open space.
Between 20 March and 13 April, we asked for your feedback on the draft Concept Design, which proposed park features you think are the most important to include and share any other comments and suggestions you have about this project.

Road discontinuance
January to March 2026
